If you need more information about this convenience service, please read the following answers to other members' questions.

Q. What is an OECU VISA Check Card?

A. The OECU VISA Check Card works like both an ATM card and a check. It can be used at any ATM or merchant that displays the VISA emblem.

Q. How do I use the OECU VISA Check Card?

A. At stores, restaurants or any merchant that displays the VISA emblem, it works like a check. You present the card to the cashier, sign the receipt, and the amount of your purchase will be deducted from your OECU Checking Account. The OECU VISA Check Card is as easy to use as an OECU VISA Credit Card when making catalog purchases via the Internet or telephone.

When using the OECU VISA Check Card at an ATM, you enter your personal identification number (PIN) to receive cash, make deposits, transfer money between accounts, or receive your account balances.

Q. Are there any transaction costs involved when using the OECU VISA Check Card?

A. When making a signature based transaction (signing a receipt for the item/service being purchased like with a credit card) with your VISA Check Card there is no transaction fee that OECU accesses against your checking account.

When using your VISA Check Card on a transaction that requires a PIN (Personal Identification Number) other than at an Alliance One, Credit UNION 24 CU Here, Money Pass, Credit Union 24 CU Here Select or OECU owned ATM there will be a $1.50 fee accessed against your checking account by OECU.

There may also be additional fee(s) charged by the financial institution processing the transaction. PIN based transaction include withdrawls, point-of-sale, transfers, inquiries and deposits.

Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Student package members receive 5 Free PIN based transactions a month and will be charged a fee only after their initial 5 PIN based transaction in a given month.

Q. Will I receive a statement for my OECU VISA Check Card transactions?

A. Your OECU VISA Check Card transactions will appear on your monthly OECU Real Everyday Checking Account statement, just like an ATM transaction would. The transaction information is more informative than just a check number. It provides not only the amount and date of the transaction but also the name of the merchant. This extra information makes it easy to balance your checking account.

  Q. Can I still use my checks when I shop?

A. Yes, you can still use your checks. You can use either the OECU VISA Check Card or your personal checks, whichever is most convenient for you. However, we are sure that once you see how much more convenient the OECU VISA Check Card is to use, you will need to write fewer and fewer checks.

Q. How can I get an OECU VISA Check Card?

A. All you need to do is complete the OECU Account Add-On Form. If you already have an OECU Real Everyday Checking Account, the OECU VISA Check Card will be added to that account.* If you do not have an OECU checking account, the Add-On Form can be used as an application to open an OECU Real Everyday Checking Account with an OECU VISA Check Card.

Q. What happens if my OECU VISA Check Card is lost or stolen?

A.
  • Contact OECU AT ONCE if you believe your card and/or PIN code has been lost or stolen, or if money is missing from your account.
  • If an unauthorized person uses your OECU VISA Check Card for a non-PIN-based transaction, and you report your loss or theft to OECU within two (2) business days, your loss is limited to $50.00.
  • If you DO NOT report your loss or theft within two (2) days, and OECU can prove it could have stopped the unauthorized transaction if you had reported within that period, you could lose as much as $500.00.
  • If an unauthorized person uses your OECU VISA Check Card as a PIN-based transaction, you can lose all of the money in your account, regardless of when you report the loss. So always treat your OECU VISA Check Card, and your PIN code as though they were cash!
